Jean Claude Dhuez

Jean Claude Dhuez is a French certified physiotherapist and massage therapist. He began his work in Cambodia in 1991 with an NGO as the National Rehabilitation Center supervisor and trainer. He also worked as the technical advisor at the National Physiotherapy School, supervising the trainers in curriculum rewriting and practical training. Along with opening and developing Sâmata Health & Wellness Studio, the first studio to offer comprehensive wellness treatments in Cambodia, he is also the technical advisor to the Ministry of Tourism regarding spa and masseurs standards and massage training curriculum design. He is an active member of the tourism committee of the European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia.

Jean-Claude created and design is own natural aromatherapy and spa products brand in 2000 made in Cambodia.

Antoine Caffiot

Our acupuncturist, Antoine Caffiot, is originally from France. Antoine has studied at the National Hospital and Institute of Acupuncture in Hanoi, Vietnam where professor Nguyên Tai Thu and other doctors provided him a strong and intensive training, both theoretical and practical on adults and children patients. Antoine as stayed and studied at the hospital until he obtained his certificate with distinction as an acupuncture practitioner. Antoine goes back to the National Hospital and Institute of Acupuncture in Hanoi several times a year to broaden is knowledge and experience.

Dr. Loraine Chan Duch
Doctor in Acupuncture

Our acupuncturist, Loraine Chan Duch is a Cambodian who graduated at the Shanghai Second Medical University (China) in 1991 as a Medical Doctor.

After her graduation, she has continued her studies in the field of Acupuncture and was graduated at the Shanghai College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (China) in 1992.

She has practiced acupuncture since then.

Loraine is a humble person who has dedicated her life to providing services to patients with care and responsibility.

Marie Lefebvre

Our chiropractor Marie Lefebvre comes from France. She is a graduate of the IFEC Franco-European Institute of Chiropractic, the only approved school of chiropractic in Paris, France. After a 6-year curriculum, with 2 years of clinical experience, she decided to practice in Cambodia. Following continuous training rich in seminars, she continues to perfect herself through research in order to deliver the best quality care possible. A comprehensive approach will be offered during all sessions; with equal focus on physical, chemical and emotional health.

Anne Klein

Anne Klein is a French midwife with six years experience in France and abroad. She graduated from the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin en Yvelines in 2011 with a Master’s Degree in Midwifery and gained a Diploma in Obstetrics Ultrasounds from the University Paris Descartes in 2015. She has spent four years working in hospitals in Paris, mainly in the delivery room. Abroad she has spent one year working in French Guyana in a home-based hospital for high-risk pregnancies and post-partum care. Last year she worked as an independent midwife on Mayotte Island and also in the delivery room of the biggest maternity hospital in France (9,514 births in 2016).

She has been based in Phnom Penh since September 2016. First she joined a private clinic managing their midwife ward, and more recently she has made the move to work independently. She is passionate about supporting expectant parents before, during and after delivery to make sure they know what to expect from this life-changing experience.

She is qualified and experienced at providing in French or English:

  • Pre-natal consultations, follow-ups and all tests required during all stages of pregnancy
  • Childbirth classes: a series of 7 classes during pregnancy to prepare you and your partner for the experience of labour, delivery and the first few months of your baby’s life.
  •  Home-based post-natal care: home-based follow up consultations for you and your baby during its first two weeks to check on recovery and to help with breast-feeding and other post-natal queries
  • Pelvic-floor training class: classes to strengthen your perineum muscles after a natural or cesarean birth. This really helps to recover the lost muscle strength brought about during pregnancy and delivery.
  • Talking groups for breast-feeding and post delivery

In addition to pregnancy related care, she is also experienced and able to provide more general female health care. For all women, particularly those living abroad, it is important to maintain regular check-ups. She is able to provide:

  • Pap smears, STI tests and vaginal swab tests
  • Advise on family planning and risks of breast and cervical cancer  
  • Prescribe birth control and insert the contraceptive implant.

Sallee Gregory

Currently the only podiatrist working in Cambodia, Sallee Gregory diagnoses and treats all manner of foot, ankle and gait related problems as well as advising on footwear and foot care and prescribing custom functional foot orthotics. She has experience working professionally in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, London and Nairobi.

Her medical background includes hospital department management, clinical practice in community health, and private practice consulting. She is registered in Australia and is an adviser to the NSW Podiatry Council—serves on a panel conducting inquiries into complaints or notifications about the conduct of registered podiatrists or students practising in the state of NSW.

Maiti Ardite
Pilates Instructor

Maite is a certified fitness instructor, personal trainer and pilates instructor specializing in matwork and small apparatus. She trained and taught for 8 years in Spain, teaching matwork and pilates experience to people of all ages to address postural problems and common back complaints. In both private lessons and group classes, Maite helps students increase their flexibility, stability, and strength while maintaining a safe and fun environment. Her pilates programs include resistance band, fit ball, ring and mat based exercises tailored to specific needs.

Libby Brown-Osuga
Pilates Instructor

Originally from the west coast of the USA, Libby has lived and worked in several Asian countries. She was first introduced to Pilates about 20 years ago by a yoga instructor who recognized her need for gentle back-strengthening exercises.  She continued regular self-practice at home before joining Pilates classes with a PT in Manila.  Libby completed her Mat Pilates teacher certification in Hanoi and taught there before moving to Phnom Penh, gaining experience teaching all levels of classes.   She particularly enjoys teaching basic classes and emphasizes gentle, safe progression with Pilates moves, believing that students should listen to their bodies and never force or strain to carry-out an exercise.  Her classes are characterized by flow and a balance of stretching and strengthening exercises designed to enhance postural awareness, balance and stability.

Maggi Nimmo
Yoga and Pilates instructor, Reiki Master

Maggi has been involved in yoga for many years. A trained remedial therapist she has developed a practical and individual approach to yoga regarding it as a tool to balance, heal and stabilise your body. Strength and flexibility must be balanced and your structure harmonised before peak health can be experienced. Maggi believes that emotional and mental imbalances are the root of disturbances to the inherent healing potential of your body so introduces her students to relaxation, somatic balancing techniques and breath meditations to calm the nervous system.
Your breath and chemistry can alter the way you live in moments and with yoga as tool of equilibrium this can be for the good.

Ruth Gleeson
Reiki Master

Ruth Gleeson is a Reiki Master providing Reiki healing therapy sessions aimed at aiding those who wish to release physical stress or tension and encourage overall harmony in the body, mind, emotions and spirit. Ruth has been involved in Reiki for over two years. She has been working in Cambodia for ten years in a human rights context and is eager to promote the importance of self-care and life balance amongst aid workers and clients.

Each member of the staff is trained and tested by owner Jean Claude, who has over 25 years of experience, to maintain Sâmata’s commitment to excellence. During the training, massage therapists learn the industry standards by Jean Claude himself of oil massage, back and shoulder massage, foot massage, and body scrubs as well as basic anatomy. Only after successfully completing the final practical evaluation following training are the massage therapists allowed to provide these services to customers.
